Christmas Cookie Day a Success with St. Joseph CS in Fergus Students and Staff

Grade 3 and 4 students at St. Joseph Catholic School in Fergus had a festive Christmas cookie bake off this past week.

“We wanted to return to this event as well as a few others to help our students create those touch stone moments and memories and help them return back to a normal school experience with all our skills program up and running,” said Chris Lane, teacher and cookie day organizer.

Students chose one of two available recipes – both nut free and meeting all dietary concerns.

“With the aid of our grade 8 helpers, students mix and create their dough, then they will put it on cookie sheets that were marked to identify the group. At the end of the day the students took home all but 2 which were judged by our grade 8 panel for taste texture and look,” said Lane.

The fun day has a deep tradition of raising Christmas spirit while getting the whole school involved in creating a tasty treat.

“The last group to do it is our current grade 8 group and they laugh at how bad their cookies turned out and joke about some unique substitutions in their recipes,” shared Lane.

All in all, an engaging and memorable treat for the holidays.
